A silk twill scarf printed with a continuous wavy pattern made up of the Diorling logo in bright green. The donor, Elizabeth Jenks, wore this scarf as part of her uniform as a vendeuse (sales assistant) at the Dior London boutique from 1969 to 1970.
The Diorling label was launched at the Christian Dior London boutique on Conduit Street in March 1968. Designed by Dior London head designer Jorn Langberg (d. 2014), the collection consisted of less expensive ready-to-wear garments aimed at a young clientele. The Christian Dior London company had moved to new premises at 9 Conduit Street in 1960, where it opened the first Dior retail boutique in Britain. The boutique offered garments and accessories from the Christian Dior London collection as well as the Diorling label. The company also ran a made-to-measure service from a salon upstairs. The sewing workrooms were located in the basement. Jenks remembers exclusive clients visiting the upstairs salon to be fitted by Jorn Langberg and his team.
