This was made as a character in a puppet play adapted from one by the Spanish author Federíco Garcia Lorca. Its maker Chris Shirley-Smith described it in a note as: 'the first attempt at producing a "Cubist" set for the Lorca play. But it was not used - Suzanne's were much better!'

Glove puppet of a character in a Lorca puppet play. Resin, paint, cotton, satin and string. Modelled and dressed by Chris Shirley-Smith, early 1960s.
Physical description
Glove puppet of a character in a play adapted to the puppet stage by Federíco Garcia Lorca, with a resin composition head, painted with coloured triangle shapes, and with painted hair and lengths of silver wire to represent hair. Dressed in a blue satin tunic with red braid cuffs and coloured shapes on the chest of the tunic. A long, dark blue blue felt sleeve acts as an extra robe and the covering for the puppeteer's arm.
