Ionides secured this important print at a Paris sale of Rembrandt etchings in 1882. The impression, which is apparently unique, shows signs of the artist having vigorously scraped the plate to create an area of light at the top right, thereby heightening the drama of the scene.

Etching and drypoint depicting a bearded man holding an infant, kneeling in front of a man wearing a turban, who seated on the raised platform. There is a figure in the shadows, standing behind them, holding an object in their raised right hand. To the left there is a man and woman kneeling in the shadows.
