Salt kit of lead-glazed earthenware. Of ovoid shape with flattened back, with hemispherical separately thrown aperture with simulated rope twist ornament at the join with the body. Behind this is a knop and a strap handle. The ceramic body of hard, bright red appearance. The interior and upper part of the exterior with a transparent brownish glaze which has partially dribbled down the unglazed lower part of the exterior.
