Vase and cover of black basalt, with applied figures in low relief of Venus and Cupid. Ovoid body with incurved shoulder, narrow neck, tall spreading foot with a border of acanthus foliage, square moulded plinth. The two handles are each formed of two serpents rising from a satyr's mask. The relief represents Venus holding a bunch of poppy-heads and leaves above Cupid who runs before her.

Physical description
Vase and cover of black basalt, with applied figures in low relief of Venus and Cupid. Ovoid body with incurved shoulder, narrow neck, tall spreading foot with a border of acanthus foliage, square moulded plinth.
