Pencil sketch by Lila De Nobili (1916-2002) for Princess Aurora in Act I of The Royal Ballet’s 1968 production of The Sleeping Beauty. Lila De Nobili's design idea for the production was a Victorian view of the Middle Ages. Peter Wright was responsible for staging the ballet with Frederick Ashton contributing original choreography. First cast Aurora was Antoinette Sibley. The V&A has a substantial collection of costumes from this production.
