Best known as the author of The Lives of the Artists, Vasari was also a leading painter of the later Renaissance in Florence. This is his design for a painting depicting a scene from the Acts of the Apostles (now in the Gemäldegalerie, Berlin). The crowded composition shows Christ's apostles blessing the people of Samaria in the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Churchill, Bibliografia Vasariana, London, 1912, p. 10; Ionides Catalogue, p. 15 (attributed to Vasari) The drawing appears to be a design or modello for the picture in Berlin (Staatliche Museen Berlin, Die Gemädegalerie, Die italienischen Meister, Berlin, 1930, p. 94, fig. 334; and P. Barocchi, Vasari Pittore, Milan, 1964, pl. 71). The sheet has a vertical crease down the middle and ismuch worn and rubbed. The poor condition makes it difficult to judge; it is possibly a copy. The event represented is realted in Acts 8: 14-17.
