As a street photographer and cinematographer, Epstein has a keen eye for colour and framing. In this photograph, he uses the car as a framing device. The open back door creates a boundary around the figure of filmmaker Mira Nair (Epstein’s wife at the time), while the driver’s window frames a fragment of the desert landscape.
