Historical context
A copy after the lithograph by Louis Haghe in David Roberts, Holy Land, 1842-49, Vol.III, [Pl.27], (1855 edn., Vol.III, Pl.114). The date 1789 is impossible and may be either a mistake for 1879 or a serial number. The `signature' appears not to be in the same hand as that of the inscription. For suggested attribution to Charles Haghe (for SD.767-SD.769), see Searight Archive.
