1. SHORTS Designed and made by Pineapple, Great Britain, 1992 Lycra (8%), cotton (46%), polyester (46%) T.290-1992 Lycra was introduced and trademarked by Du Pont in 1959. It is a long chain polymer composed of at least 85% segmented polyurethane, which can be extended up to six times its own length. Originally used for corsetry. Lycra has revolutionised the appearance and fit of sports and fashion clothing in recent years. Cycling shorts were originally designed for sporting purposes but were quickly seized upon by the fashion market for everyday wear also.
