TWO DESIGNS FOR BEDS AND DUVET COVERS FOR THE MEMPHIS DESIGN COMPANY, MILAN Designed by George Sowden (British, b. 1942) and Nathalie du Pasquier (Italian, b.1957) Black and coloured felt tip pens 1982 George Sowden worked in the office of Ettore Sottsass for the Olivetti Company for a number of yets, and joined the Memphis group with him in 1981. His bed is a typically massive and uncompromising design decorated with brilliantly coloured patterns. Nathalie du Pasquier designed the first fabrics that Memphis produced, and her duvet designs were acquired as examples of contemporary textile production, which has always been a major concern of the Museum.
