Valentine Gross (Valentine Hugo) was an art student in Paris in the 1910s. She became an illustrator, researcher and painter. A ballet enthusiast, Gross witnessed annual seasons of the Diaghilev Ballets Russes in Paris and made sketches during the performances and rehearsals from 1909 until 1919.
