Carolus Clusius (1526–1609)

The Flemish botanist Carolus Clusius assembled and shared seeds and bulbs of rare exotic plants with an international network of naturalist friends, without ever leaving Europe. This book contains over two hundred descriptions of new species he discovered while travelling in Spain and Portugal in 1564 to 1565. These include the maguey, or American aloe, native to Mexico.
