ZOO Art Fair was a London-based non-profit art fair held annually in October from 2004 to 2009. The event got its name from its first venue, the London Zoo in Regent's Park. It established a reputation for showcasing new and innovative contemporary British art before eventually succumbing to competition from the Frieze Art Fair.

ZOO Portfolio was launched in 2005 and contains work by eleven contemporary artists represented at the 2005 fair. The work was specially commissioned for the portfolio by the curator David Thorpe and represents an eclectic body of practice, ranging from more conventional published media such as screen printing to jewellery, music, and do-it-yourself sculpture.

Physical description

Rectangular sheet of brushed white metal with narrow strip 'folded' up at 90° along one long edge and drilled with two regular holes. This wraps around a block of white plastizote (plastic foam) with recessed niches containing other components: a sheet of glass with rainbow-printed effect shading from dark blue through pink and orange to yellow; a white metal hollow square rod with a hole drilled into one side slightly off-centre longtitudinally; a twig, sharpened at one end; a lump of concrete; two white metal screws (phillips); two black rubber bands; a rectangular sheet of art paper roughly the same size as the metal sheet and plastizote block with photocopied line drawings illustrations/sketches/diagrams showing how to assemble the other components into a sculpture/installation. Sheet numbered in pencil in the bottom left corner and signed in pencil bottom right.
