Students of a sketching workshop in the V&A lecture theatre, 29 April 2018

Drawing

Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This drawing was made at the V&A at incredibly rapid speed by the Brighton-based illustrator, author, poet performer and teacher Curtis Tappenden. Since he visits many circuses and has made hundreds of lightning drawings capturing the moment at the ringside, he was asked to lead a sketching workshop at the museum on Sunday, 29 April, during the Performance Festival.

In the morning students were coached in technique by Curtis. In the afternoon they attended a performance of Little Mermaid by Metta Theatre in the Lydia and Manfred Gorvy Lecture Theatre where they put their morning's teaching into more practice, and Curtis sketched them sketching.
