Gallery label
'Unshrinkable' William Elliot and Sons of Hawick manufactured these combinations under the brand name 'Ellico'. Their label states that they are made of 'unshrinkable pure wool'. Underclothes made of pre-shrunk yarns could be regularly laundered without losing their original shape and size. Combinations combined chemise and drawers in one garment. They were shaped to the figure and reduced the layers of women's underwear.
