This probably formed part of a presentation set of monk's food vessels. The use of the lotus petal motif on the body and cover refers to spiritual purity. Gifts made to the community of monk's or Sangha are considered to be highly meritorious in Thailand bringing benefits to the giver in future lives.

Physical description
A ritual covered bowl in the form of a lotus. Repoussé decoration on the foot, body and cover represent overlapping petals consisting of two, three and four rows respectively. The cover has a lotus bud knob resting on a gilt disc chased with a lotus flower ornament. Similar gilt decoration appears in bands around the base of the cover and the rim and foot of the bowl.
