Physical description

Woman's black woollen coat with an asymmetrical plastic button fastening from the collar to the left side. Roll collar and dolman sleeves. There is a small tie on the inside of the coat to settle the asymmetric closure. Lined with silk.

Object history note

The skirt of the coat (at 28 inches) is shorter than the New Look length of 36 inches. There are touches of New Look influence, in the rounded shoulders and full skirt, but it has not been entirely embraced in this design.
