BOTTLESHIP, Mark II Designed by Ernest Race (British, 1916-1964) Manufactured by John Alan Designs for Isokon Furniture Company, London Plywood 1963 This small drinks cupboard was a complete re-design of Egon Riss's moulded plywood, wall mounted holder for two bottles, glasses and magazines of 1939. It was both a small drinks cupboard and occasional table. The new version, part of the attempted re-launch of Isokon, was commissioned from Ernest Race who also designed a new version of the 'donkey'. This example was bought new by Molly Thwaites, Jack Pritchard's colleague at the Furniture Development Council. W.9-1994(1989-2006)
