Hair Pin
1865-1870 (made)
Artist/Maker | |
Place of origin |
Spanish women paid great attention to styling their hair.
Throughout Spain they coiled their hair into a chignon at the back of the head, which was usually held in place by double-pronged hair pins with decorative filigree heads. This hair pin is an example of one of these. The construction of the filigree heads on these hair pins is often the same as that of the buttons which fastened their clothes, and the beads on their rosaries.
