'SUPPORTO' OFFICE CHAIR Designed by Fred Scott (British, 1942-2001) Made by Hille International, London Steel, aluminium, polyurethane 1979 This is the finished version of the to prototypes shown nearby. The form is based on detailed ergonomic studies of how people actually sit while working. The aluminium shell is cast to the contours of the body, with particular attention to the lower back. The main elements can be combined to form at least 30 versions of the free standing chair and even more as multiple seating. The seat and supporting column are common to all the permutations.
