This group of performers is probably dressed for a circus parade. The parades, which announced a circus's arrival in town, featured costumed performers, often dressed as cowboys and Native Americans, as well as horses, elephants and caged wild animals. The figure second right is high wire performer, Mademoiselle Yetta, the original owner of the photograph. She went on to become a variety performer. In 1920 she was appearing at the London Coliseum in Vesta Tilley's farewell season, billed as ' Yetta - The Dancing Girl on the Wire'.
