VITRUVIUS BRITANNICUS or, The British architect…Colen Campbell, 1731 This was the first architectural book to show modern British buildings. It was published in 1715 by Colen Campbell, an architect and pioneer of the Palladian style. He included illustrations of his own buildings and turned his book into a plea for the 'antique simplicity' of Palladianism. Illustrated with engravings By Colen Campbell (born in 1676, died in London, 1729); published by the author in London Museum no L.4058-1961 (16/03/2018)
