Batty and Thomas Langley, 1741
From 1724 onwards, there was a huge demand among ordinary builders for little books like this which gave simple ways to calculate the proportions and details of classical architecture. Batty Langley, a gardener from Twickenham, published several such books on the Palladian style.
Engraved by Batty Langley (born in Twickenham, near London, 1696, died in London, 1751) and Thomas Langley (born in 1702, died in 1751); printed for R.Ware, at the Bible and Sun in Amen Corner, near Paternoster Row, London.
