The body is made from stuffed red-orange mohair, which has been airbrushed to give the appearance of a segmented body. It has long 'antennae' made from red cords attached to its nose. The toy has two small, black glass eyes.

'Crabby' was produced as part of a 'Signs of the Zodiac' collection made by Steiff in the mid-1960s, they were made in three sizes of which this is the largest. 'Crabby' was supposed to represent Cancer the Crab.
