Object history
According to Rodney Searight: - `Bt Maggs Bros, Apl.1981, £46'.
Historical context
The original drawing was made by the traveller and antiquary George Alexander Hoskins (1802-1863) who travelled in Ethiopia with his Italian artist companion Signior L.Bandoni in 1833, and published Travels In Ethiopia, 1835. A lithograph after Hoskins's drawing appears opposite p.278, titled 2d. Cataract Of The Nile. SD239 seems to be a copy, either of the original drawing or of the lithograph. See Searight Archive.
