Jenny Crisp is a basket maker who manipulates traditional basket-weaving techniques in innovative ways. She studied Woven Textiles at West Surrey College of Art and Design from 1982 to 1985 and trained in willow growing and basket weaving with David Drew, an outstanding British basket maker.
This oval arm basket is made from willow grown by the maker; her involvement in the process from the very first planting to the final steps of the making gives her an awareness and understanding of the essential links in making a functional object from indigenous material.
