Textile fragment of painted and dyed cotton chintz, Coromandel Coast, ca. 1720-ca. 1730
Physical description
Textile fragment of painted and dyed cotton chintz dress or furnishing fabric. Design with a symmetrical arrangement of decorated palmettes on a red ground framed by white-ground flowered bands with scalloped edges suggesting lace. There are filler patterns and use of parti-colouring for the foliage.
