Hanging

first half 18th century (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This is part of a group of pieces (together with Circ.78-1952 and IS.123 and 125-1950) which do not fit together to make up a complete hanging or set of hangings. They were presumably cut up to be used as bed-hangings or even to line a tent. The finely drawn lotus flowers at the base of the vase recall decoration on Chinese ceramics of the early 18th century.
