The extremely voluminous skirt is formed by a multitude of shaped muslin panels, 7 in. wide at the bottom and running into a point at the waist band. These are all sewn together, each alternate seam being covered with a stripe of silver braid. A deep waist-band of crimson cotton fabric supports the skirt, which has a deep border along the bottom of silver cloth patterned with a diamond-diaper.
