DeVore's work is based on organic forms and his glazes often resemble earth or skin. The matt surface of this vessel suggests weathered stone, while the crackled glaze on the interior is like dried mud. Near the bottom of the vessel is a false base, which draws the gaze inwards to the small cavity almost hidden beneath it.
