Black Beads

Print
1973 (printed)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Harvey Daniels (1936-2013) was a painter and printmaker born in London. Much of his work is brightly coloured geometric abstraction but for a period in the 1960s and 70s he worked in a Pop Art style, and his subjects were bold simple motifs such as fashion accessories (handbags, necklaces, perfume bottles) and pictures of women. However he later claimed to have had no interest in Pop ideas, saying that his work was more personal than that of the Pop artists proper. He made a number of lithographs and screen-prints and wrote several books on printmaking. He also taught printmaking for a number of years.
