Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Hand-tinted stereoscopic daguerreotype of a young man who was a British Army Officer. Hand-colouring brings out the scarlet and gold of this young officer's uniform. British army uniforms had changed little in the forty years since the end of the Napoleonic Wars. He holds a hat under his right arm and a handkerchief in his right hand. The daguerreotype plates are in a black mount with two rectangular arched windows. This is glazed in a passe-partout frame. A T. R. Williams label is on the back of the frame.
