Daguerreotype of a view of the Horseshoe Falls at the Niagara Falls, on the Canadian side. This is in a glazed passe-partout frame. The backing board is covered in a patterned 'wood-effect' paper. There is part of a red fabric loop at the top that was probably used to hang the image.
The object is labelled several times with the date as 1843, but has later been corrected to 1840. Possibly related to the daguerreotype used to create the engraving for Lerebours's 'Excursions Daguerriennes'.
