A copy of the 'Catalogue of the Art Treasures of the United Kingdom, collected at Manchester in 1857', interleaved throughout with blank pages on some of which are sketches of certain pictures in the exhibition and studies of groups of visitors etc. by Doyle (after title page, pp. 74, 122, 124, 136 and 154), and the the Hon. Charlotte Isabella Ellis (d.1891) (after pp. 86, 179) and the the Hon. Maude Alethea Stanley (d. 1915), the original owner of the catalogue and with the book plate of Henry herbert Harrod inside the front cover. 240 pages of wove paper with 3 inserted sheets, bound in blind-tooled blue leather with gilt-tooled black and red leather-backed spine, raised bands and marbled endpapers
