Object history | The study was made from Algernon Charles Swinburne for a painting projected in 1861, but never carried out. A pen and ink drawing was made of the composition, and is reproduced opposite p.110 of H C Marilliers's book 'Dante Gabriel Rossetti', 1899. In his study, Hector's arm is raised shoulder-high and the hand placed against his left ear, whereas in the composition the hand is pointing downwards. |
