Object history
The provenance is the grand-daughter of Francis Skidmore.
Production
This list came together with a letter of petition addressed to Her Majesty the Queen, Victoria, asking for a pension for making the ironwork of the Albert Memorial. By the 1880s, Francis Skidmore's eyesight was failing and he was disabled after being knocked down by a carriage. Skidmore moved back to Coventry and spent his last years in some poverty in Eagle Street. See bibliographic reference.
