Daguerreotype of a three-quarter length portrait of a young man, seated, wearing a dark suit with his left hand resting on his stomach. This daguerreotype is in a gold-coloured mount with a rectangular arched window. This is glazed and in a leather-coated wooden case lined with velvet. There are two metal hook fastenings on the right edge. The Photographic Studio stamp is on the front cover.

Production
This daguerreotype was taken at the Photographic Portrait Gallery at Ducie Place in Manchester. This was established by Richard Beard in 1841. He passed on the studio to the American daguerreotypist John Johnson in November 1842.
