Object history | According to Rodney Searight: - 'Bt fr Fine Arts Society, April 1968 £85 (in part exchange)'. |
Historical context | This - excluding the foreground - appears to be derived from a plate (unnumbered) titled Konieh in Léon de Laborde, Voyage de l'Asie Mineure, Paris, 1838. Bough's watercolour may have been intended for reproduction in a topographical book, since he drew three other Near Eastern subjects for the Revd John Fleetwood, The Life of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, 1862. |
