Artist's statement: 'Buccal Voice is one of the least communicative methods of speech available to humans, and is usually produced in the absence of glottis or larynx. The sound of this un-voice emerges from memories of my grandfather's speech to me as a child. The deep memory of this sound, and the curiosity it evoked, formed one of my earliest listening experiences, and fuelled my exploration into superficial and acoustic depths. The etched line is a deep trench capable of recording sensory experience of pressure and time. This particular disc (E.411:2-2017) is the first example text of acid-etched phonography in over 100 years, reinvestigating the early experiments of Emile Berliner in 1890. These plates expose the potential depth of surface matter, and the infinite stasis and redistribution of airborne stimuli through phonography.'
