Erwin Eisch was one of the first artists in Europe to use glass as a material purely for artistic expression, moving away from 'beautiful', funcional objects. He made a series of finger sculptures. The title 'Erogener Finger' [erogenous finger] underlines the phalic shape of the object.

'Erogener Finger', mould-blown glass sculpture in the form of a bandaged finger, Erwin Eisch, Germany, 1977
Physical description
Mould-blown colourless with two applied strips of glass for the crossed sticking plaster. The shape is hollow and the glass around the base has been cut smooth and polished. Metallic silver-coloured lustre painted over a pinkish-brownish enamel base layer. The lustre has a crackled surface effect. The bandage id painted in white, pink and black enamel, the sticking plaster in pink and black enamel.
