Woman’s petticoat of bleached, ribbed fustian, embroidered with coloured worsted threads in chain, satin, feather and speckling stitches. It is made of 5 panels of fustian, the selvedges whipped together. There is a border of flowers and peacocks embroidered around the hem, above which are separate floral sprigs. There is a wide box pleat at centre front with side pleats and pleats on either side of the opening in the centre back seam. The waist is bound with ¾-inch (2 cm) wide linen tape, and the hem with 1-inch (2.5 cm) wide pink worsted tape.
