Object history
Worn by the designer's wife, Janet Gaynor (1906-1984), an actor who won the Oscar in 1927 for roles in "Seventh Heaven" and "Sunrise". She was also Oscar-nominated in 1937 for "A Star Is Born". She retired from acting when she married Adrian in 1939.
