Pair of Shoes
ca. 1920 (made)
Artist/Maker | |
Place of origin |
Pair of brown glacé kid shoes with punched decoration. They have pointed toes and a low, stacked-leather heel and are fastened up the front by ribbon laces through loops of leather. The tongue is joined to the main body of the shoe along the inner side. They are lined throughout with brown kid.
Each shoe tree is of polished wood, and consists of three sections. Each section appears to be hollow, so that they are very light. The three sections comprise a front part that goes into the body of the shoe, a back part for the heel of the shoe, and a central part, which slots in between the two. The latter has a gilded knob on top with a ring through it, to facilitate the removal of the section when it is in position.
