Object history
Worn and given by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. The designer's label has been removed from the inside back of the coat.

Since the 1920s, the Queen Mother had frequently bought her clothes from Madame Handley-Seymour, although by 1938 she was beginning to transfer her loyalties to Norman Hartnell. Either could have produced this coat, or another couturier or dressmaker may have made it.
