DESIGN AND PROOF for initial 'W' for the Knight's Tale in The Works of Geoffrey Chaucer About 1896 Morris took inspiration from early printed works, but he was also quick to harness new technologies such as photography and magic lanterns. He used them to copy, enlarge and project the works he was studying, as well as to transfer copies of his designs directly onto wooden blocks.
