American Pop Artist Tom Wesselmann is known for his stylised, glossy images of still lives and nudes. In the early 1970s he began focusing on a few details of the body, such as hands, feet and breasts, investing them with a symbolic life of their own. Here, the monumental foot has a powerful, slightly humorous, 'in-your-face' presence.
