Helaine Blumenfeld’s jewellery flows with the energy of her monumental bronze sculptures, and was cast in the same foundry. The human figure is suggested but not depicted. The lines of the pendant anticipate the forms of her large work made four decades later.

Physical description

Curved, tapering pendant of abstract form, with undulating surface, a fold just above the mid-point, and a long aperture towards the top through which a cord or ribbon may be attached to enable it to be worn.

Object history note

Acquired from the artist's own collection. Helaine Blumenfeld recalled that her solo show in New York in 1976 included some unique pieces of jewellery that were for sale, but that from then on she never sold jewellery but only made it for friends.
