Tadek Beutlich (1922-2011) was born in Poland but in 1947 settled in the UK. He was a textile artist, teacher and printmaker. He is best known as a weaver of textile constructions and extraordinary tapestries but he also produced a number of large and very striking relief prints, most printed in the 1960s and 70s. Beutlich printed his prints without a press, using a variety of inked surfaces to make impressions, including lino and plywood. A number of his prints were published by Editions Alecto (including three other prints donated by the Beutlich family – 'Embryo', 'Purple Coral' and 'Meteors').
