The production of Romeo and Juliet was part of Johnston Forbes-Robertson's actor-management of the Lyceum Theatre, which saw him play the lead character in multiple productions. In this production, Forbes-Robertson played Romeo and Beatrice Stella Patrick Campbell played Juliet, alongside Arthur Grenville as Paris, Dolores Drummond as Nurse and Ian Robertson as the Apothecary.

Forbes-Robertson is standing wearing a habit with a wide brimmed hat. He is standing in profile, lifting off his mask and looking towards Juliet. Juliet is standing facing forwards wearing a white dress with long sleeves, and has her hands together at her torso, as if praying.
